SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) _ Dale Ellis scored 28 points and the Seattle SuperSonics beat Sacramento 97-75 Tuesday night to spoil the Kings' regular-season debut at the new Arco Arena.

A crowd of 16,517 marked the 128th consecutive NBA sellout in Sacramento.

Xavier McDaniel scored seven of his 19 points for Seattle in the first three minutes of the final period to give the Sonics an 81-66 lead with 9:02 left.

Michael Cage added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Seattle.

The SuperSonics made 52 percent of their field-goal attempts while Sacramento made just 30 percent.

Seattle established a 52-36 halftime lead on the strength of a 13-2 scoring spree that put the Sonics ahead 46-29 with 6:02 left in the second quarter.

The Kings were led by LaSalle Thompson with 16 points. Thompson had 10 rebounds.

The closest the Kings got to the Sonics in the second half was 70-58 with 11:53 remaining in the fourth period.
