Third Suit Filed In Crash of Nelson Plane
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ A negligence lawsuit stemming from the New Year’s Eve crash of the plane carrying Rick Nelson’s band has been filed by the widow and son of a sound technician, her attorney said.
The lawsuit was filed Jan. 17 by Laurie Russell, 34, and her 5-year-old son Ryan Clark Russell, survivors of soundman Clark Russell, 35. The suit did not ask a specific amount in damages, attorney Tom Frankovich said Thursday.
Russell, Nelson and five others died when the DC-3 crashed and burned near De Kalb, Texas. They were en route to a concert in Dallas.
The lawsuit names as defendants the Century Equipment Co. and Nelson’s estate, and pilot Brad Rank and co-pilot Kenneth Ferguson, who both survived the crash.
