Presbyterian churches merge

First Presbyterian Church of Manteno merged with the Frist Presbyterian Church of Peotone on April 21 to form Community Presbyterian Church. The church is at 64 S. Walnut St. in Manteno, and Pastor Chrystal Abbott and Pastor Alex Regets will serve the congregation. Sunday worship is at 10 a.m.

New Vision pantry open Saturday

The New Vision food pantry, 1501 E. Merchant St. in Kankakee will be open from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. It’s located right behind Poor Boys restaurant. For more information, call 815-933-3155 or 815-231-6756.

St. John Paul II to hold Santacruzan

St. John Paul II Catholic Parish, 956 S. 10th Ave., Kankakee, is hosting Santacruzan on Saturday and Sunday, May 11-12.

Saturday will include a float parade of the Santacruzan Queens at 6 p.m., followed by a coronation night of the Reina Helena program and formal gala in the church gym.

Guest speaker will be Gina Jamoralin, Consulate General of the Philippines Chicago. Dinner tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children age 11 and younger. Children younger than 5 eat for free.

Events Sunday begin at 1 p.m. with a bilingual Mass, followed by the official Santacruzan events around the church.
