BOSTON (AP) -- Albie O’Connell, Carl Corazzini and Mike Sylvia scored in a 3:32 second-period span to lift Boston University to a 4-1 opening-round win over Northeastern in the 46th annual Beanpot tournament Monday night.

The win extended the Terriers’ (18-4-2) recent dominance in the tourney of Boston’s four local area Division 1 colleges. Boston University, which plays the Boston College-Harvard winner next Monday, will be seeking its fourth consecutive title and 11th in 15 years.

Chris Drury added a third-period goal for BU, making its 14th finals appearance in 15 years. It was the Terriers’ seventh straight Beanpot win.

Bobby Davis scored for the Huskies (16-9-2), who haven’t captured the trophy since 1988.

Trailing 1-0 midway into the second period, the Terriers tied the game when O’Connell scored from in close after defenseman Matt Brown’s errant clearing pass at 10:18.

BU moved ahead 2:06 later when Corazzini, breaking in down the right wing, slipped an off-balance, one-handed shot past goalie Marc Robitaille. Sylvia scored on a wrap-around shot, making it 3-1 at 13:30.

The Huskies, who have captured only four titles -- the least of the four schools -- had jumped ahead 1-0 when Davis converted Kevin Welch’s rebound 5:06 into the opening period.

Northeastern’s Roger Holeczy had a goal disallowed after a video review showed he kicked the puck in with 7:31 left in the third period.

Terriers coach Jack Parker, in his 25th season, was back on the bench after missing Friday’s 6-3 win over Merrimack following a coronary artery procedure.

Michel Larocque stopped 26 shots for BU.
