TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ Yankees owner George Steinbrenner said Saturday it would be inappropriate to talk with Dwight Gooden until the legal process involving the former pitcher's arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol is completed.

Gooden was stopped by Tampa Police last month after authorities said he was driving erratically.

Gooden is a member of Steinbrenner's special advisory group, and also works with young players at the team's minor league complex in Florida.

``I haven't talked with him,'' Steinbrenner said. ``There will come a time we will.''

Gooden hasn't been with the team since his arrest. The Yankees decided he should concentrate on his family and his upcoming legal proceedings.
