Three-year sentence for Stamford man having sex with minor
STAMFORD — A former city high school student who had sex with a girl four years younger than he, will have to serve a three-year jail sentence for the crime.
Manuel Francisco Condo, 21, was sentenced by Judge John Blawie at the Stamford courthouse late Friday morning. Blawie said Condo would probably be deported to his native Ecuador following his jail sentence.
Even so, Condo’s criminal defense attorney Victor Biancardi said the resolution of the case, in which his client pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault, was a good one for Condo.
“The state was extremely fair to my client. Mr. Condo could not have entered into a better plea agreement and the state was very responsive in coming to a disposition in the case,” Biancardi said.
Condo was arrested as a 19-year-old high school student in December 2017 and charged with second-degree sexual assault for having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old runaway girl.
At the time, Youth Bureau Sgt. Joseph Kennedy said Condo stood accused of helping the girl run away from home. During the investigation into her disappearance, it was disclosed that the two were having a sexual relationship.
“He was not allowed to harbor or encourage a runaway,” Kennedy said upon making the arrest, adding that the four-year difference in age between the two resulted in the sex assault charge.
