Danbury industrial gas company acquired by global giant

After mushrooming by acquisition, the Danbury industrial gas supplier Tech Air is being acquired by Linde rival Air Liquide.

Tech Air has about 550 employees in 50 locations in the Northeast, Southeast, Texas and California, with annual revenue totaling $190 million.

Founded in 1935 as County Welding Products in New Rochelle, N.Y., Tech Air’s predecessor company was originally a Linde distributor and its then-parent Union Carbide long based in Danbury. The company was acquired in 2011 by CI Capital Partners, a private equity investment firm based in New York City that has made additional buys to expand Tech Air’s territories and service centers.
