Dodger Stadium was 92 degrees for first pitch of Game 2 on Sunday night, and Los Angeles right fielder Yasiel Puig had to battle a difficult setting sun to track a fly ball in the first inning. Temperatures are projected to dip into the low-50s for Game 3 on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field, with first pitch set for 8:01 p.m. local time.
DENVER (AP) — NBC play-by-play man Al Michaels has quickly apologized after making a joke about Harvey Weinstein during “Sunday Night Football.” Michaels mused in the middle of the third quarter of the game between the New York Giants and Denver Broncos that the Giants were “coming off a worse week than Harvey Weinstein.” His on-air partner Cris Collinsworth replied with a laugh and told Michaels “only my L.A. guy comes up with that one.” Michaels apologized in the fourth quarter for “being a little flip.”
JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Indonesia’s soccer community is grieving following the death of a veteran goalkeeper after a collision during a weekend league game. Video shows 38-year-old Choirul Huda slumping to the ground following a collision with Persela teammate Ramon Rodrigues de Mesquita during Sunday’s game in East Java. Huda was treated at the stadium before being rushed to a nearby hospital, but died several hours later. The team says he sustained a traumatic injury and died of cardiac arrest.
ZURICH (AP) — FIFA has confirmed the seven highest-ranked nations joining host Russia as top-seeded teams in the World Cup finals draw. France rises one place to No. 7 to edge out Spain, as defending champion Germany heads an unchanged top six. After a busy qualifying program last week, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Belgium and Poland are also top-seeded for the Dec. 1 draw in Moscow.
