10 Dead in Mo. Group Home Fire
ANDERSON, Mo. (AP) _ At least 10 people were killed in a fire early Monday at a group home for the mentally disabled in southwest Missouri, the state fire marshal said. At least 12 people were taken to hospitals from the Anderson Guest House south of Joplin, Fire Marshal Randy Cole said. Authorities believe about 35 people were in the home at the time, he said.
The building was ``very heavily damaged″ before the fire was brought under control just before daylight, Cole said.
The cause was under investigation, and names of the victims had not been released.
The home was run by Joplin River of Life Ministries and licensed by the state.
