BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) _ European Union nations collected $155.2 billion in receipts from non-resident tourism last year, up 1.3 percent from $153.2 billion a year earlier, the EU's statistics office reported Friday.

Twelve of the 15 EU nations had more foreign vacationers, according to the Eurostat report. But the number of foreign vacationers fell 4.3 percent in Italy, 3.7 percent in Austria and 0.5 percent in Sweden.

Despite the decline in foreign vacationers, Italy earned more from tourism that any other EU nation with a yearly total of $28.5 billion.
