Mayville teen who died in crash identified

Alex E. Nortman, 18, has been identified in an obituary as the Mayville High School student who died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday in the town of Theresa.

The Mayville School District responded by making counselors available and in a letter to families, encouraged parents to speak with their children about the death and to reach out for assistance if needed.

According to a Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, a car traveling north on Freedom Road driven by a 19-year-old Mayville man failed to stop at the Hochheim Road intersection at 7:05 p.m. and collided with a truck traveling west on Hochheim Road driven by a 26-year-old Mayville man.

The driver of the car was transported by ambulance to Aurora Summit in Oconomowoc for non-life-threatening injuries. There were three passengers in the car, including Nortman who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office. Another 19-year-old Mayville man with serious non-life-threatening injuries was flown from the scene by Flight for Life to Aurora Summit. A 16-year old girl from Theresa was transported by ambulance to Aurora Summit with non-life-threatening injuries.

The pickup driver was transported with non-life-threatening injuries by ambulance to Aurora Summit.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has not identified any of the other people involved in the crash.

The crash is being investigated by Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
