Police: Atlanta man raped woman; returned later to rob her
ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta police say they’ve arrested a man who raped a woman and returned a few days later to burglarize her apartment.
News outlets report 42-year-old Demetrius Abercrombie was charged on Tuesday with rape and burglary.
Atlanta Police spokesman Jarius Daugherty said officers arrived at the victim’s home on May 31 concerning a sexual assault. The victim reported a robbery four days later. She had been away from her home since the attack and noticed items were missing when she returned.
Police were able to link the burglary to Abercrombie through fingerprints and a description the woman gave of her attacker. Abercrombie has an extensive criminal record with prior rapes in 2005 and burglary in 2012.
Abercrombie is being held without bond. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.
