Former Christian school teacher accused of sexual assault
STATESVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A former Christian school teacher is accused by North Carolina police of repeated sexual assault of a student.
The Record & Landmark of Statesville reports police filed warrants Tuesday charging 47-year-old Derone Martin McNeill with 26 counts each of second-degree rape, second-degree forcible sexual offense and sexual activity by a teacher with a student.
Statesville Police Chief David Addison say McNeill, who had taught at Statesville Christian School, is not in custody.
According to authorities, investigators determined that sexual assaults took place on multiple occasions between February 2012 and May 2014.
McNeill is currently employed by the Iredell-Statesville school system as a teacher assistant and bus driver.
His whereabouts weren’t known Tuesday evening.
