Kidnapped Mexican Woman Suffocates
MEXICO CITY (AP) _ A 65-year-old woman suffocated to death after she was gagged by a band of kidnappers that included her own grandson, a news agency reported.
Luz Maria Amado Palomo died Thursday while she was being held by her 21-year-old grandson and three other young men, the government Notimex news agency quoted police in the central Mexican state of Hidalgo as saying.
The men had kidnapped the woman early Thursday and demanded a ransom of $115,000. They made the demand in a telephone call from a restaurant in Pachuca, 60 miles northeast of Mexico City.
Police traced the call and caught the men. They then found the victim.
