Twenty One Pilots announce San Antonio concert
Twenty One Pilots, one of the few rock bands to break big in an era dominated by hip-hop and pop, will bring their “Bandito Tour” to the AT&T Center on June 22, 2019.
Tickets go on sale at 9 .m. Oct. 19 at ticketmaster.com, attcenter.com and by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
The duo of Tyler Smith and Josh Dun, record for Fueled by Ramen, the label that’s home to Panic at the Disco! and, earlier in their career, Fall Out Boy.
Like those bands, Twenty One Pilots has found an audience by tinkering with expectations for a rock band — there’s no guitar — and mixing and matching with other genres.
Their breakthrough album was 2015’s “Blurryface,” featuring
the hits “Stressed Out” and “Ride.” “Heathens,” from the “Suicide Squad” soundtrack, cemented their best-selling status.
The band just released “Trench,” the follow-up to “Blurryface.” The played the single “Jumpsuit” in a storm of pyro and confetti during this week’s American Music Awards.
