September 21, 2018

WILKES-BARRE — A $120,000 state grant will improve the roof, windows and flooring at Osterhout Free Library. The Keystone Library Grant will upgrade the building and help the library’s energy efficiency. “Libraries continue to provide invaluable resources to neighborhoods of all demographics around the state,” said state Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski, D-121, Wilkes-Barre, in a press release. “I’m incredibly thankful that Gov. (Tom) Wolf and Education Secretary Pedro Rivera realize this and are helping our local libraries continue to serve their communities.” The grant comes from the The Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund, which is administered by the state Department of Education and funded by a portion of realty transfer taxes. Grants must be matched dollar-for-dollar. Matching funds may include cash and in-kind contributions, federal funds, and other state funds. — STAFF REPORT
