Rodney Clement -- Rochester

Rodney Elias Clement passed away on Nov. 3, 2018, at his home.

He was born on Jan. 27, 1941, in Rochester, to Glenn and Luella (Miller) Clement.

Rodney graduated from John Marshall High School. He grew up on the farm and continued working on the farm until moving on to construction work. In 1978, he started working at Mayo Clinic and retired in 2001. After retirement, he worked at Superior and Paine Furniture part-time.

He married Judy Richardson on Nov. 13, 1979.

He enjoyed life. Always welcoming and made you feel part of the family. Doing things with family and friends was his passion. He enjoyed woodworking, wood carving, building and welding. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and Bluegrass Music Festivals.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Rochester; six children, Rochelle Clement (Adam) of Rochester, Donna (Randy) Parkin of Merrifield, Minn., Suanne (Jeff) Beninga of Elk River, Minn., Julie Everly (Tony Friedrich) of Zumbrota, Tonja Odegaard of Rochester, and Michelle Miller of Stewartville; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond (Sandy) Clement of Rochester; and one sister, Sharon (Jim) Decker of Castle Rock, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Roland; grandson, Zachery; four brothers; and one sister.

The family would like to thank Mayo Clinic physicians, Saint Marys and Eisenberg nurses that were involved in his care and a special thank you to Mayo Hospice.

Memorials are suggested to Mayo Hospice or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes. Inurnment of his cremated remains will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens at a later date.
