Former major league catcher Duane Josephson dies

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa (AP) _ Duane Josephson, a former catcher with the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox, died Thursday of a heart ailment. He was 54.

Josephson played eight seasons in the majors. He was with the White Sox from 1965 through 1970 and the Red Sox in 1971 and 1972. His best year was with Chicago in 1970, when he hit .316.

Josephson had a lifetime batting average of .258 with 23 home runs and 164 RBIs.

Services will be held Monday in New Hampton.
