Howard E. Wolf

February 7, 2019

HORICON -- Howard E. Wolf, age 92, longtime resident of Watertown, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019.

He came to faith in Christ at the age of 17. Sensing a desperate need to know God, as his pastor showed him the words of 1 John 1:9, he said, “I can do that,” and he received the gift of heaven, which is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He sought to serve the Lord the rest of his days.

He was born on March 26, 1926, in Markle, Indiana, to Aaron and Eva (Houser) Wolf. He was married to Joyce (Elzey) for 68 years, who preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 2018.

He was fun-loving and encouraging. He never met a stranger. He wanted to be a friend to those who didn’t have one. He enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing guitar and keyboard and singing. He traveled six states for many years teaching the Bible and playing music in nursing homes. He was dedicated to ministering to the residents at Golden Living for 19 years. He was a member of the U.S. Army serving in Korea in 1951-52.

Survivors include a daughter, Gloria (Ron) Luepke of Watertown; son, Leon (Jan) Wolf of Custer; grandchildren, Dan (Aimee) Wolf of Oostburg and Krysta (Peter) Wetzel of Deerfield; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Abigail, Hannah, Aaron and Elizabeth Wolf and Benjamin, Mariana, Liam and Chase Wetzel; sisters Doris Miller of Menomonee Falls and Norma Jean Gruber of Fort Myers, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jay, Don and Wilbur.

On Saturday, March 23, at Watertown Community Church, 106 E. Madison St., a gathering will begin at 10 a.m., a memorial service at 11 a.m. and a luncheon to follow. Leon Wolf will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Fragrant Oil Ministries (a ministry to leprosy believers in India). Please send to: 1206 Amber Lane, Watertown, WI 53098.
