Creative Comrades bringing Havasu professionals together

October 14, 2018

Aymie Spitzer started Creative Comrades in 2016, “as a way for creative professionals to get together and get to know each other face to face.” Creative Comrades is a collaborative community of entrepreneurs, freelancers and creative professionals in Havasu who meet on the second Wednesday of each month at College Street Brewhouse and Pub, 6-8 p.m.

“Now with our partners, ASU Lake Havasu City, Partnership for Economic Development and the College Street Brewhouse, it’s really growing,” she said. “We have a website where we can actually connect online and really broaden our reach and activities.”

Speakers educate the group at the meetings in areas of expertise such as marketing, technology, business startups and current creative trends in a relaxed environment where free beer, mac and cheese and pizza are served up by Head Brewer Jason Helart. The members learn from each other by sharing information and ideas and also get help with future projects.

ASU student Eli Boecker has been attending the monthly meetings and said, “I love the vibe. I love everything about it.” He will graduate this year with a degree in organizational leadership and plans to start an action sports camp in Lake Havasu so young people will have more organized activities available.

Another guest at the Wednesday event, Scott McIntyre, is a psychology professor at ASU. “I came for the knowledge and stayed for the beer,” he said.
