Prep baseball, softball: Whaley leads Flyers to 16-2 win over Hannan
IRONTON — Isaac Whaley smacked three hits and drove in four runs to lead Ironton St. Joe to a 16-2 victory over Hannan Friday in high school baseball.
Jackson Rowe also had three hits and Matt Sheridan four RBI for the Flyers (8-1). Ryan Payne was the winning pitcher.
Ironton St. Joe returns to action at 5 p.m. Monday at home vs. River Valley. The Wildcats visit Tolsia at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
FAIRLAND 7, SOUTH POINT 5: Garrett Looney went 2 for 4 with two RBI to help the Dragons (5-2 overall, 3-0 Ohio Valley Conference) to a road victory over the Pointers. Gavin Hut went 2 for 4 and drove in a run. Tucker Adkins stole two bases.Hunt allowed three hits, struck out four and walked two in four innings to earn the victory.
GREEN 11, PORTSMOUTH NOTRE DAME 0: Tayte Carver pitched a one-hitter as the Bobcats shutout Portsmouth Notre Dame in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
POINT PLEASANT SPLITS: The Big Blacks (9-3) defeated Pigeon Forge (Tennessee) 6-5 and lost to Hilton Head (South Carolina) 15-10 in Myrtle Beach. Miles Williams had three hits for Point Pleasant in the first game. Carter Smith had four hits in the second game.
WAHAMA 10, BELPRE 5: Antonio Serevicz had two hits and was the winning pitcher as the White Falcons (8-2 overall, 5-1 Tri-Valley Conference) defeated the Eagles in Mason, W.Va. Tanner Smith also had two hits.
HURRICANE 11, RIVERSIDE 1: The Redskins improved its record to 16-4 on the year behind the pitching of Harlie Vannatter and the bat of Caiti Mathes in a win over the Warriors. Vannatter pitched all three innings of the game allowing just one hit and one run while getting eight strikeouts. Mathes was 2 for 3 at the plate with a double, a triple and four RBIs.

PORTSMOUTH NOTRE DAME 8, GREEN 2: Maddy Suter homered to help Portsmouth Notre Dame defeat the Bobcats. Cassie Schaeffer was the winning pitcher. Kasey Kimbler drove in two runs for Green.
POINT PLEASANT 13, POCA 2: The Big Blacks (9-1) scored 11 runs in the bottom of the first in winning their ninth consecutive game. Emma Harbour homered and drove in five runs. Madilyn Keefer was the winning pitcher.
RIPLEY 8, MEIGS 0: Grace Walsh hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to give the home-standing Vikings (10-4) all the scoring they needed in a shutout of the Marauders (4-5). Kyra Winter also homered. Jaelyn Hunt pitched a one-hitter.
WAHAMA 15, BELPRE 1: The White Falcons (12-1) scored 12 times in the bottom of the second on their way to winning their ninth in a row. Hannah Rose picked up the win. Lauren Noble smacked three hits.
