KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ General manager Tim Latta of the Kansas City Wizards of the Major League Soccer team resigned Monday.

Latta was the team's GN since its inception in September 1995, and was involved with marketing, ticket sales and personnel.

The Wizards finished the 1997 regular season with a 21-11 record, matching the best record in MLS history. But the team lost in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs to the Colorado Rapids.

In the two-year history of MLS, the Wizards hold the best combined regular-season record, 38-26.
