Game and Fish director looks back on 2018

January 2, 2019

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming Game and Fish Department Director Scott Talbott says 2018 was a year especially notable for the partnerships between his agency and the public to manage wildlife and conserve it for the future.

Talbott noted the collaboration of the department and the public in charting future conservation plans for the Yellowstone cutthroat trout in northwest Wyoming.

The work developed a set of specific recommendations for future Yellowstone cutthroat trout restoration efforts in the Absaroka, Beartooth and Bighorn mountains.

The agency also worked with others in bringing back the Wyoming Outdoor Expo.

Other collaboration efforts involved chronic wasting disease and ungulate migration.

For the new year, Talbott says Game and Fish looks forward to implementing a new strategic plan and continuing to provide top-notch wildlife viewing, hunting and fishing in Wyoming.
