Silver Charm Draws for Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) _ Silver Charm, the 8-5 favorite in the early line, drew the inside post Thursday for the $1 million Santa Anita Handicap.

Silver Charm will carry high weight of 124 pounds and will be ridden by Gary Stevens in Saturday’s 1 1/4-mile race.

Silver Charm, who was scratched from last year’s race with a foot injury, has 12 wins in 21 career starts and has earned $6,683,006.

Others entered Thursday were Sidon, who will be ridden by Gary Delahoussaye and carrying 114 pounds; Free House, Chris McCarron, 123; Puerto Madero, Kent Desormeaux, 122; Dr Fong, Alex Solis, 117; and Event Of The Year, Corey Nakatani, 119.

Puerto Madero, second choice at 2-1, figures to be the top challenger to the favorite. Puerto Madero, who upset third-place finisher Silver Charm in the Donn Handicap at Gulfstream last month, has 11 wins in 16 career starts.
