Kostunica To Visit Bosnia
SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina (AP) _ President Vojislav Kostunica will travel on Sunday to the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo, for the first official visit by a Yugoslav president since the country declared independence from Belgrade in 1992.
The visit was announced Saturday by the office of the senior international official in Bosnia, Wolfgang Petritsch. The Austrian diplomat visited Belgrade on Friday for a meeting with Kostunica, where he urged him to establish normal relations with the former Yugoslav republics.
Kostunica will travel to Sarajevo aboard a U.N. helicopter from Trebinje in the Bosnian Serb-controlled part of Bosnia. Kostunica will be there for the reburial of Bosnian Serb poet Jovan Ducic, who died in 1943 in the United States.
The visit will have great symbolism because of Sarajevo’s role in the 3 1 1/2-year ethnic war, when it was besieged by Bosnian Serb forces.
