2nd gang member gets prison in 2016 killing of Texas officer
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A gang member must serve 20 years in federal prison over the 2014 fatal shooting of an off-duty San Antonio-area police officer outside a tattoo parlor the victim co-owned.
Jerry Idrogo was sentenced Wednesday in San Antonio. The Texas Mexican Mafia member in 2016 pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy in the slaying of Balcones (bal-KOH’-nehs) Heights police Officer Julian Pesina.
Investigators say the officer also claimed Texas Mexican Mafia membership, had gang-related tattoos and sold drugs to fellow members.
Records show Idrogo acknowledged being the driver for two gang members who shot Pesina. Both face mandatory life prison terms after being convicted of murder in aid of racketeering and weapons charges.
A fourth gang member who ordered the killing pleaded guilty to firearms and racketeering counts and received life in prison.
