NEW ORLEANS (AP) _ Kwan Johnson scored 13 of his game-high 21 points in the first half Saturday night in leading the University of New Orleans to a 68-51 victory over Holy Cross in the championship game of the UNO Christmas Classic.

New Orleans (7-2) has now won 11 regular-season tournaments in the last 11 seasons, including all three of its Christmas tourneys and seven of the eight it has hosted at Lakefront Arena.

The victory over Holy Cross (3-7) was the Privateers’ 15th in a row at home.

Johnson scored six points during a 15-2 run to start the game. UNO, which never trailed, led 35-24 at halftime and by as many as 20 points in the second half at 51-31 with 9:32 remaining.

DeWaune Wesley added 13 points and nine rebounds for UNO and was voted the most valuable player of the tournament. Wesley had 26 points and a tournament-high 21 rebounds in two games.

Chris Rojik, with 11 points, was the only player in double figures for Holy Cross.
