Taming fear can propel you to the top

August 27, 2018

There’s something to be said about being able to overcome your fears.

Jenna Heideman, a 25-year-old woman who originally hails from Crescent City, admits her “biggest fear’’ was once public speaking. She said when she attended Cissna Park-Crescent-Iroquois High School in her younger years, she would shed tears when asked to speak in front of the class.

Now, Heideman has gained notoriety through public speaking, in this case through her popular podcast, “Inside the Noize.’’ Currently a Nashville resident, she uses the platform to interview some of the biggest names in country music, and thousands of fans listen in each week.

As the Daily Journal reporter Kiera Allen relayed in her front-page story Thursday, Heideman will return to her roots this weekend when she will be working at a county music festival in nearby Mahomet. She will host live podcasts at the venue where top artists Adam Sanders, Kasey Tyndall and Rodney Atkins will be performing.

Let’s face it. Someone who says they have never been scared before is not telling the truth. We all have fears, and while they can sometimes prevent us from doing something unwise, they most often hold us back from doing something beneficial.

Tame those fears. By doing so, it might just take you to the heights. Just ask Jenna Heideman.
