Vendor spots left in Holiday Fun Fair
NEEDLES — There is still room for a few more vendors in Needles’ Holiday Fun Fair set for Saturday, Dec. 1.
The community’s kickoff for the Christmas season, the fair is held in and around Desert Communities Federal Credit Union at Broadway and G Street; spreading out into Broadway and towards H Street. The fun begins at 10 a.m. and continues into the evening hours, with lighting of the Community Memorial Christmas Tree around 4 p.m., immediately preceding the traditional lighted Christmas parade down Broadway from D to H Street.
Vendor booths go for $35; $45 with electricity. Contact Tena McGee at 760-985-4050 for details.
McGee, along with Sue Godnick, organizes the event on behalf of the Women’s Club of Needles. The Women’s Club will be inside DCFCU with a bake sale and more. Joining them will be a craft corner, McGee said, where one can purchase and personalize ornaments to hang on the tree. Called ‘memory balls,’ McGee said, they’re usually emblazoned with the name of someone who has passed away, plus an assortment of add-on decorative materials provided. Said McGee: “The city is going to put their decorations at the top,” of the Community Memorial Christmas Tree, adjacent the Needles sign in the lot across from DCFCU. “They’ll leave the bottom vacant for those who want to add some ornaments.”
‘Elves,’ she reported, will be on-hand to help.
Very important, McGee continued, is signing up during the event to receive toys from the annual drive. Bring children and proof of residency. Donation boxes are now to go out Nov. 15 at local businesses. Those who want to get some Christmas giving done early can make donations of toys or money now at the credit union. Make checks out to the Women’s Club of Needles.
