Concord school officials plan to discuss class size policies

February 11, 2019

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The Concord school board plans to discuss its current class size policy while two-thirds of Concord’s kindergarten and elementary school classrooms are at or below enrollment targets.

The board will meet Wednesday to discuss the policy and district data findings of below-capacity classrooms. The Concord Monitor reports the board had planned to reaffirm its policy without any changes last month, but chose to give it more consideration after parents asked the district to get more feedback.

The current policy is over three decades old and gives a range of acceptable class populations depending on the grade. Many of the city’s elementary and middle school classes average about one student higher than the state’s averages.
