Body of Polo man, 81, found in smoke-filled home as garage burns
POLO – An 81-year-old man’s body was found in his smoke-filled home by firefighters responding to call that his garage was on fire.
The Ogle County Sheriff’s Department got a call around 11:45 p.m. Saturday about a structure fire at 502 Buffalo St.. When Polo firefighters arrived, the attached garage was fully engulfed, the sheriff’s department said in a news release Sunday.
Firefighters found Keith E. Fredricks dead inside his home. There were no other occupants.
The cause of the fire and Fredricks’ death are under investigation.
The sheriff’s department is declining to release any further information, the release said.
