Police officer shoots carjacking suspect in Delaware
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Authorities say a police officer shot a carjacking suspect in Delaware, then gave the man first aid before paramedics arrived.
The News Journal of Wilmington reports that police said in a news release that the suspect survived and is in stable condition. The officer wasn’t hurt.
Police haven’t identified either.
Wilmington police said a woman reported two masked men, one of them armed, stole her car at gunpoint about 6:30 a.m. Saturday. Police said a patrol unit found the stolen car within 10 minutes.
Police say an officer confronted the people in the car and shot one of the two suspects. The other carjacking suspect was arrested.
This shooting is under investigation by the city criminal investigations division, the office of professional standards and the Delaware Department of Justice.
