Assault Survivor Says Justice Has Been Served
I am one of those suburban, well-educated white women who is also reasonable, rational and fair. I am a teacher, wife, mother of sons, grandmother of a teenage girl, and avid Trump supporter.
I am also a survivor of assault, the victim of an unwanted episode that should never have happened to me or to anyone.
I could have reported the long-ago abuse and made it define my life. I could have shrunk into a world of fear and self-pity using my experience as an excuse to stop functioning and become dependent on others to shoulder the burden for my misfortune.
Instead, I gave myself the power to choose not to make it a mission to destroy someone else’s life, but more an opportunity to move on with mine. I used that power to give me the strength to make it my responsibility to overcome it and to never allow myself to be put in that position again.
I also refused to be a weak and whiney woman robotically herded into public protests along with so many bitter and angry people who hide behind slanderous placards and T-shirts, provided by those who promote and prostitute chaos and anarchy.
Legitimate survivors survive, each in our own way.
These past weeks have truly tested the integrity of a solemn process that should have been honest, respectful and dignified. From the very onset it was anything but that, at least on one side.
It does seem that something terrible may well have happened to Dr. Christine Ford 36 years ago, but something undeniably happened to her in these past weeks. She was figuratively assaulted again by the vile and soulless perpetrators of the deep-rooted hatred in the extreme liberal side of society, the media and especially the Democrat members of the Senate Judicial Committee. They are the ones that participated in using and abusing her for their own political self-profit.
Brett Kavanaugh was and is an honorable and good man. But in these unethical and unprincipled times, it wouldn’t have mattered who sat in his seat. Any other Trump candidate would have suffered relatively the same fate. But because truth is stronger than speculation and good is stronger than evil, justice has been served and that Justice is named Brett Kavanaugh.
