James Anderson out of England tour to Sri Lanka

November 4, 2014

LONDON (AP) — The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) says bowler James Anderson is out of England’s tour to Sri Lanka later this month to continue rehabilitation on a left knee injury.

The ECB says in a statement that Anderson will instead “undergo a graded return to bowling programme over the next two months” which includes “a period in South Africa in December... in preparation for the tri-series against Australia and India and the World Cup.”

Anderson experienced discomfort in his knee during the summer schedule, when Sri Lanka and India toured England.

The statement adds that there are no present plans to replace Anderson in the squad for the seven-match tour, beginning Nov. 26.
