Lee Kuan Yew’s Father Dies at 94
SINGAPORE (AP) _ Lee Chin Koon, the father of a former prime minister of Singapore, has died. He was 94.
Lee died Sunday, The Straits Times newspaper said Monday. The office of his son, Lee Kuan Yew, would not give a cause of death or other details.
Lee Kuan Yew, 74, stepped down as Singapore’s prime minister in 1990 after 31 years. He remains in the cabinet as Senior Minister without portfolio.
The older Lee is survived by four sons, a daughter, 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. His wife died in 1980 at the age of 75.
A private family funeral service and cremation will be held Wednesday, the newspaper said.
