Ridgefield garage fire sends one to the hospital for burns

May 3, 2019

RIDGEFIELD — A resident was sent to the hospital for burns after a garage caught fire on Lakeside Drive Extension on Friday.

Firefighters responded to the fire at 12 Lakeside Drive Ext. around 1:30 p.m.

The homeowner was working inside the garage of the single-family home when it suddenly caught fire, Fire Chief Jerry Myers said.

Danbury’s Miry Brook Volunteer Fire Department sent mutual aid to the scene, and it took firefighters about 30 minutes to knock down the flames, Myers said.

The homeowner was transported to the hospital for burns, the severity of which could not be disclosed.

Not much information was available Friday, but Myers said Ridgefield’s fire marshal will be investigating the cause of the fire.
