No. 19 UC Santa Barbara Stops Idaho 70-58
MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) _ Kristen Mann had 15 points to lead four Gauchos in double figures as No. 19 UC Santa Barbara beat Idaho 70-58 Saturday night for its sixth consecutive victory.
It was UCSB’s 13th victory in 14 meetings with Idaho.
Lindsay Taylor and Debby Caine had 12 points apiece and Mia Fisher 10 for the Gauchos (17-3, 10-1 Big West). Brandy Richardson had 10 rebounds.
Alyssa Erickson had all of her 19 points in the second half for Idaho (6-14, 4-6). Keisha Moore added 16 points for the Vandals.
Trailing by nine points early in the second half, UCSB went on a 25-4 run to make it 54-44 with 8:23 to go.
Idaho cut the deficit to 56-52. But the Gauchos, whose largest lead was 14 points, had layups on four straight possessions to make it 64-54 with 3:47 remaining.
UCSB shot 65.4 percent in the second half and 45.5 percent overall. Idaho finished at 35.6 percent after shooting 24 percent in the second half.
Idaho led 29-24 at halftime after freshman Autumn Fielding nailed three 3-pointers in the final 2:55 after the Vandals trailed 21-19.
The Vandals, who shot 50 percent in the half to UCSB’s 27.6, closed the half with a 27-11 run. Idaho made five of 11 3s in the half.
