Marshall 82, W. Virginia St. 46

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) _ Tamar Slay scored 18 points and Marshall used a 20-0 second-half run to cruise to an 82-46 victory over Division II West Virginia State on Tuesday night.

Marshall (5-0) is off to its best start since winning the first five games of the 1996-97 season.

After leading by 13 at halftime, Joda Burgess hit a 3-pointer to start the decisive run for Marshall. West Virginia State (3-2) went scoreless over the next seven minutes as the Thundering Herd pulled ahead 66-32 with 8:46 left.

Marshall maintained at least a 25-point lead the rest of the way.

Tywone Still scored 14 points to lead West Virginia State, which committed 30 turnovers and shot just 32 percent for the game, including just 2-of-17 3-pointers.
