Thieves rob man near Stamford Hospital
STAMFORD — A city man was robbed of his cell phone and wallet by three men early Saturday morning.
Police were called to Stamford Hospital at 2 a.m. Saturday morning after a man walked into the emergency room to be treated for injuries he sustained during a robbery beat-down a short time before.
The 32-year-old man said he was walking home along Stephen Street near the hospital when he was approached by three males about 20 years old, Butler said.
The man said one of the three walked up to him and asked for what he believed to be money.
The man, who speaks Spanish and not English, said he did not respond because he was not sure what exactly they wanted.
One of the three wearing a black hoodie walked up to him, put him in a head lock while the other two began pummeling the man’s face and head with punches.
The other two also went through the man’s pockets, stealing his cell phone, the wallet containing over $100 in cash and his backpack.
Butler said police will be speaking to the man in hopes of coming up with a better description of the assailants.
