San Francisco Opera Throws Gala
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ The San Francisco Opera threw a gala party over the weekend for Marilyn Horne, who debuted with the company 40 seasons ago this week.
The event on Sunday brought 3,200 people to the War Memorial Opera House.
``Marilyn Horne and Friends: A Farewell Tribute″ was long sold out. It marked the singer’s retirement from the opera company, which gave Horne her first major casting break as Marie in ``Wozzeck″ in 1960
