Orlando, Newton To Open New Theater

October 23, 1997

BRANSON, Mo. (AP) _ Tony Orlando may be cutting a yellow ribbon at his new theater next spring with help from buddy Wayne Newton.

The entertainers plan to open the TOWN theater on April 15.

``We will have the opportunity to share our vision, a oneness of creative spirit, and to give Branson audiences the best shows of our lives,″ Orlando said Wednesday.

The theater’s name comes from the entertainers’ initials, said Newton.

The entertainers will appear on stage together for the first show, with proceeds going to local charities.

Orlando cut his ties last summer to the Yellow Ribbon Theater, citing irreconcilable differences with the owners. The theater, named for Orlando’s hit song ``Tie a Yellow Ribbon ’Round the Old Oak Tree,″ filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July.

The new theater was known previously as the Branson Showcase America Theater. Before that it was the Glen Campbell Theater.
