West Shore Community College receives marketing award

VICTORY TWP. — West Shore Community College has received a silver Paragon Award from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) in the college promotional brand video category.

The Paragon Award winners were announced during the NCMPR’s annual conference held last week in San Antonio, Texas. The silver award signifies a top entry among those judged by an independent panel.

Though a strong narrative, the video shares the story of Hannah Edwards who overcame many challenges in her life to attend college. It is a candid account of her personal life and experience and how higher education changed her life. The video is intended to encourage students to attend college and underscores the importance of persistence in overcoming life challenges, the desire to succeed, seeking help when needed, and to be lifelong learners.

“The ‘process of becoming’ is different for each student and the struggles Hannah faced are poignant and moving. I am grateful she was willing to share her story,” said Thom Hawley, executive director of college relations. “This new video also represents a great deal of creativity, teamwork and collaboration on the part of many people. We are honored to receive the award on behalf of the college’s students and staff who participated in its production.”

LakeFX Media, based in Ludington, created the video content and script in conjunction with the college’s marketing and public relations department. The awards recognize excellence in design and communication exclusively among community and technical colleges.
