Majority of indictments tied to drugs

IRONTON — More than 30 of the 52 indictments returned this week by a Lawrence County grand jury were drug related. Fifteen of the cases concerned sealed drug indictments, said Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney Brigham Anderson.

Burnal R. Aldridge, 38, of County Road 24, Ironton, was charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs (meth), two counts of trafficking in heroin, two counts of having weapons while under disability (a felon in possession of a firearm) and two counts of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer.

The indictment also seeks to recover $8,300 in cash that Aldridge had in his possession, according to court records. In other cases:

• Mary Nagel, 32, of Cincinnati, was indicted on aggravated trafficking in drugs (meth), illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility or institution and two counts of possession of drugs (meth and suboxone).

• Tyler M.A. Kemper Jr., 27, of Solida Road, South Point, was indicted on a charge of felonious assault.

• Shawn E. Hanshaw, 30, of County Road 30, Kitts Hill, was indicted on charges of tampering with evidence, escape, resisting arrest, possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of marijuana.

• Jacob Maynard, 31, of Township Road 1038, Chesapeake, was indicted on a charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

• Justin B. Hackworth, 20, of Township Road 615, South Point, was indicted on two counts of burglary.

• Stephanie J. Gallagher, 38, of the 1500 block of North 2nd Street, Ironton, was indicted on charges of illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility and two counts of possession of drugs, including oxycodone.

• Christian A. Laramore, 31, of County Road 58, South Point, was indicted on a charge of failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer.

• Dwayne B. Ford Jr., Private Drive 257, South Point, was indicted on a charge of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer.

• Willis S. Cochran, 56, of Ohio 93, Ironton, was indicted on a charge of tampering with evidence.

• Larry R. Neal II, 39, of Ohio 140, Wheelersburg, was indicted on charges of receiving stolen property and possession of drugs (meth).

• Robert W. Stevens, 32, of the 300 block of Ridgeway Street, Coal Grove, was indicted on a charge of failure to appear.

• Chastity D. Payne, 26, of County Road 15, South Point, was indicted on a charge of failure to appear.

• Ryan J. McCloud, 31, of Private Drive 550, South Point, was indicted on a charge of theft of a motor vehicle.

• William S. Brown, 36, of Township Road 1424, South Point, was indicted on a charge of receiving stolen property.

• Shane A. Jenkins, 28, of Township Road 111, Ironton, was indicted on a charge of receiving stolen property.

• Casey R. Bartrum, 22, of Ohio 522, Pedro, was indicted on a charge of receiving stolen property.

• Kayla D. Harris, 28, of Township Road 1293, Proctorville, was indicted on a charge of theft from the elderly.

• Matthew A. Hoff, 29, of Township Road 1039, Chesapeake, was indicted on a charge of endangering children.

• Lisa D. Willis, 49, of Ohio 243, Ironton, was indicted on two counts of possession of heroin and one count of possession of cocaine.

• Jeffrey L. Anderson, 59, of Ohio 141, Kitts Hill, was indicted on charges of possession of drugs (oxycodone) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Mary K. Groves, 39, of the 900 block of North 5th Street, Ironton, was indicted on a charge of possession of drugs (hydrocodone).

• Shawn L. Crabtree, 42, of Mount Sterling, Ohio, was indicted on a charge of possession of drugs (meth), possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug abuse instruments.

• Ernest D. Lowry, 26, of Kentucky 784, Garrison, Kentucky, was indicted on a charge of possession of drugs (meth).

• Jeffrey D. Castle Jr., 29, of the 2300 block of South 5th Street, Ironton, was indicted on a charge of possession of drugs (meth).

• Kenneth V. Winters Jr., 59, of the 1600 block of South 4th Street, Ironton, was indicted on a charge of possession of drugs (meth).

• James Clinton Colley, 40, of Grayson, Kentucky, was indicted on charges of possession of drugs (meth), possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug abuse instruments.

• Thomas C. Arthur, 39, of Ohio 775, Proctorville, was indicted on two counts of possession of drugs (meth and alprazolam)

• Mary J. Miller, 27, of Kentucky 3306, Argillite, Kentucky, was indicted on a charge of possession of heroin.

• Charles L. Smith, 45, of County Road 119, Ironton, was indicted on a charge of possession of drugs (oxycodone).

• Ryan P. Jones-Duren, 35, of the 200 block of Kentucky Street, Ashland, was indicted on a charge of possession of drugs (meth).

• Kendra N. Griffitts, 35, of the 600 block of South 8th Street, Ironton, was indicted on a charge of possession of drugs.

An indictment is a formal charge made against a person by a grand jury. It does not establish guilt or innocence.
