Montana lawyer to lead national American Bar Association
BUTTE, Mont. (AP) — A Montana attorney has become the new president of the American Bar Association.
The Montana Standard reports Butte attorney Bob Carlson is the second person from Montana to lead the professional association of lawyers in the country.
He was confirmed to the position Tuesday during the organization’s annual meeting in Chicago.
He is a shareholder in the Butte firm Corette Black Carlson & Mickelson, P.C.
Carlson has experience serving in many national and state bar leadership positions during his 38-year career and he also served as the president-elect of the organization last year.
The American Bar Association has about 400,000 members. It accredits law schools and maintains a code of ethical standards for lawyers followed in 49 states.
