BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) _ The Buffalo State Bengals rushed for a school-record 404 yards on 55 attempts to shut out the Canisius Golden Griffins 31-0 Saturday.

Buffalo State kicker John Anzalone opened the scoring by kicking a 27-yard field goal with just under three minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Two long second-quarter drives resulted in touchdowns for the Bengals (4-1). Perez Dinkins scored on a 3-yard run, his sixth carry of a 12-play drive. Then Tracey Bacon tossed an 8-yard touchdown pass to Shino Ellis, and the Bengals scored again on a 2-point conversion pass from Bacon to Joe Marchitte to put Buffalo up 17-0.

Buffalo opened the fourth quarter after a scoreless third with an 85-yard scoring drive. Ed Carter caught a pass from Bacon at the three-yard line to score. Carter ran in again from two yards out to cap a 68-yard drive. Jeff Colasanti ran for 63 of the 68 yards.

The shutout was the Bengals’ second of the season. Canisius falls to 2-3.
