Man charged with child abuse of infant, burglary
WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — A Warwick man has been charged with child abuse after police say he injured his 2-year-old infant with blows to the head.
Twenty-three-year-old Alexander Walsh is being charged with four counts of child abuse.
Warwick police learned Walsh’s child was hospitalized with serious and life-threatening injuries that included skull fractures and a brain hemorrhage. Investigators concluded that the injuries were not limited to one event.
Walsh is also being charged with burglary in connection to a Feb. 19 Investigation into a local housebreak. A woman said cash and items were stolen from her apartment by an intruder as she fled from the home.
Walsh is being held in jail. It was not clear if Walsh had an attorney.
