Springboks unchanged for test in Argentina
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — South Africa’s starting team is unchanged for the Rugby Championship test against Argentina in Mendoza on Saturday.
Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer kept faith with the 15 that set up a 73-13 win over the Pumas in Soweto in the opening round of the tournament last weekend, the biggest victory ever in the southern hemisphere championship.
In the only change to the 23-man matchday squad named by Meyer on Wednesday, scrumhalf Jano Vermaak replaces Fourie du Preez on the bench. Du Preez, who returned to internationals in Soweto after a two-year absence, is unavailable for South Africa’s away games in the championship through an agreement between his Japanese club and the South African Rugby Union.
South Africa’s squad will travel to Mendoza from Buenos Aires on Friday ahead of Saturday’s game.
