Pinkerton wins RCC title
SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Veronica Pinkerton captured a River Cities Conference Cross Country championship on Thursday.
The Beatrice junior ran the course in 19:30, which broke the Beatrice High School conference record by 10 seconds.
She helped lead the Lady O to a runner-up finish in the conference. their score of 30 was only bested by Omaha Skutt, who finished with 21 points. Ralston was third, followed by Duchesne, South Sioux City and Omaha Mercy.
Beatrice’s next best finisher was Lauren Pieper. Her time of 20:31.03 was good enough for fifth place. That time would have also been a school conference record had Pinkerton not already set the new standard.
Trinity Eichenberger finished eighth with a time of 20:39.10 while Josie Guernsey finished 16th at 21:15.51, Sarah Price finished 20th at 21:49.12 and Linda Humble finished 27th at 22:31.67.
The Beatrice boys team finished seventh at the conference meet.
Evan Oltmans was the best finisher for Beatrice, coming in at 27th while Connor Hamilton finished 29th.
Devon Busboom finished 31st while Devin Smith, Evan Witulski and Noah Hagemeier finished 34th, 35th and 36th respectively.
Omaha Skutt won the team championship while Ryan Zvadil of Omaha Skutt won the individual championship.
The Beatrice runners will be in action again on Thursday when they host the B-3 District Meet at Beatrice High School.
