Prince Charles, Camilla to visit US capital, meet with Obama
WASHINGTON (AP) — Britain’s Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, are set to arrive in Washington and will visit cultural and educational sites over the next three days.
The British Embassy says the royal couple is scheduled to arrive Tuesday at Andrews Air Force Base. They’ll be greeted by the British ambassador to the U.S. and taken to a reception for embassy staff at the ambassador’s home.
The ambassador, Sir Peter Westmacott, said in a statement before their arrival that the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwell will promote democratic values, environmental preservation and perform an “essential role” in keeping the trans-Atlantic relationship “special.”
Prince Charles last visited the U.S. in 2011. As he did then, he’s scheduled to meet this week with President Barack Obama.
