BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil (AP) — Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has heard his first loud jeers on the job while appearing on the field at a soccer match.

The far-right leader took to the field at halftime of Tuesday’s Copa America semifinal match between Argentina and Brazil.

He posed for pictures with star striker Neymar, waved a Brazilian flag and waved to supporters, who began to cheer, chanting that he is a “legend.”

Other fans then began to boo and whistle.

Soccer match appearances have led to jeers for earlier Brazilian leaders too, and Bolsonaro’s popularity ratings have been falling since he took office on Jan. 1.
